- To the horror of the torch-wielding villagers of his hometown, this is the blog of a a third generation Mexican-American born in Upland in 1957. Your blogger, Larry, to the further consternation of his neighbors, grew up into a gay, Trader Joe shopping, left-leaning Democrat. Meaning that he has managed to avoid the clutches of the Minutemen element and Far-Right mobs that, if one reads the Ontario-based Daily Bulletin and looks at the election results at every election, seem to dominate this city so far. Based in Baja Upland (that neglected part of the city below Foothill Blvd. which only sixty years ago was just about all of Upland) he has known what it is to be out of favor with the Republican elite that dominates the Foothill communities of the far western portion of San Bernardino County. It is his life-ambition to crack the red-ceiling and bring the Left-Coast and 21 Century Enlightenment to this stretch of CA(nsas).
